Dwarkamai and the Sacred Dhuni
Dwarkamai is the mosque where Sai Baba lived for much of his life in Shirdi. The sacred fire, or dhuni, is maintained there, and its ash is known as Udi. Devotees receive Udi as a blessing; claims that it cures illness should be understood as faith, not medical advice.
Samadhi Mandir (Main Shrine)
The holy of holies is a white marble shrine housing Sai Baba's Samadhi (tomb). Pilgrims bow before the Samadhi, touching the feet of the marble idol. This is the centrepiece of every Shirdi visit.
Dwarkamai: The Sacred Mosque
The mosque where Sai Baba lived in Shirdi. It contains the maintained dhuni and is a central part of the pilgrimage complex.
Udi (Sacred Ash)
Udi comes from the dhuni and is received by devotees as a blessing. Check current distribution arrangements at the complex.
Chavadi: Alternate Resting Place
Sai Baba slept in Dwarkamai on alternate nights and in Chavadi on others. A procession recreating his night journey to Chavadi is still conducted on alternate days; check the schedule for the "Palki" procession time.
Lendi Baug: The Sacred Garden
A garden that Sai Baba maintained during his lifetime. He watered it daily and lit a lamp (deepgriha) inside every evening. Peaceful and significantly less crowded than the main shrine, it is ideal for quiet reflection.
Gurusthan: Neem Tree Shrine
The spot where Sai Baba was first seen as a young man, seated under a neem tree. A small shrine marks this location. The neem tree is venerated by pilgrims.

The Story of Sai Baba of Shirdi
Sai Baba lived in Shirdi for much of his adult life, making the mosque known as Dwarkamai his home. Accounts of his early life and religious background differ. He taught through simple sayings and actions, received Hindu and Muslim devotees, and became associated with the phrase "Sabka Malik Ek" (one God governs all).
Sai Baba died on Vijayadasami in 1918, and the Samadhi Mandir became the centre of the pilgrimage complex. The Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust now manages the temple, worship schedule, accommodation and pilgrim services. Current financial rankings are not relevant to planning a visit and have been omitted.
